Arson charge

Newman police said Eduardo L. Parra, 29, of Newman, was arrested Nov. 9 on a felony arson charge. Police said Parra is accused of setting fire to a portable restroom in the 2000 block of Yosemite Park Road. The damage was estimated at $2,000.

Stolen vehicle

Newman police said a 2009 GMC Yukon was reported stolen Nov. 13 from the 1300 block of Basil Court. The vehicle had not been recovered as of Tuesday morning.

Vehicle recovered

Police said a 2016 Nissan Maxima reported stolen Nov. 8 out of Modesto was recovered Nov. 9 near Highway 33 and Stuhr Road.

Vandalism charge

Police said Katrina Dunerway Rue Scott, 52, of Newman, was arrested Nov. 11 on a felony vandalism charge stemming from damage to a restroom in the 1300 block of Main Street. The damage was estimated at $600.

Theft

Authorities said a meter and tail pipe from a water box of a residence in the 1100 block of Q Street were reported stolen Nov. 9. The loss was estimated at $105.

Arrests

The following were among additional arrests reported by Newman police from Nov. 9-15. The arrest report includes incidents in which an individual was released on citation as well as cases in which a suspect was booked.

Edward A. Soliz Jr., 43, of Ceres, was arrested Nov. 9 on a felony charge of possession of a large capacity magazine and a misdemeanor charge of driving without a license.

John E. Muir Jr., 31, of Gustine, was arrested Nov. 9 on a felony warrant.

Eriberto Preciado, 38, of Newman, was arrested Nov. 9 on misdemeanor charges of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia, as well as a felony warrant.

Audrey M. Corella, 23, of Newman, was arrested Nov. 11 on a misdemeanor charge of driving on a license suspended for DUI.

Pearl L. Brantley, 54, of Newman, was arrested Nov. 12 on a felony charge of forgery.

Cheylynn M. Sanders, 20, of Modesto, was arrested Nov. 12 on a misdemeanor charge of driving without a license.

Fidel Andrade Rodriguez, 29, of Newman, was arrested Nov. 13 on misdemeanor charges of DUI and driving on a license suspended for DUI.

Frank T. Leonardo Jr., 46, of Gustine, was arrested Nov. 14 on a misdemeanor charge of driving on a suspended license.

Fatima Medina, 41, of Newman, was arrested Nov. 15 on a misdemeanor charge of driving without a license.

Activity report

Newman police received 98 calls for service, reported 42 officer-initiated incidents, handled 20 cases, made 12 arrests, issued seven traffic citations and wrote two parking tickets from Nov. 9-15, according to the department’s activity report.

GUSTINE POLICE

Theft

Gustine police said a bicycle valued at $1,100 was reported stolen Nov. 11 from in front of the Dollar General store.

Vandalism

Police said two vandalism cases were reported Nov. 14. One involved graffiti to a building in an alley near Second Avenue and Second Street. The other involved a police car being shot with a paintball gun. No damage estimate was listed in either case.

Felony vandalism charge

Police said a Gustine man faces multiple charges after being found by an officer inside a semi truck that did not belong to him on Nov. 13. Police said John E. Muir, 31, was found inside the truck in the area of Fourth Avenue and Fourth Street. Police said officers found the screen to the sleeper area of the truck damaged. According to authorities, Muir was arrested on a felony charge of vandalism and misdemeanor charges of tampering with a motor vehicle and possession of burglary tools. The damage to the truck was estimated at $1,000.

Arrests

The following were among additional arrests reported by Gustine police from Nov. 10-16. The arrest report includes instances in which an individual was released on citation as well as cases in which a suspect was booked.

Francisco Cortez, 33, of Patterson, was arrested Nov. 10 on misdemeanor charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and driving on a suspended license.

Juan Madrigal, 48, of Gustine, was arrested Nov. 13 on a misdemeanor charge of disobeying a court order.

Edgar P. Perez Garcia, 25, of Salinas, was arrested Nov. 14 on a misdemeanor charge of driving without a license.

A 17-year-old Gustine female was arrested Nov. 15 on a misdemeanor charge of driving without a license.

Activity report

Gustine police received 73 calls for service, reported 96 officer-initiated incidents, handled 14 cases, made eight arrests and wrote seven traffic citations from Nov. 10-16, according to the department’s activity report.
