Vehicle vandalism cases

Newman police said multiple cases of vehicles being vandalized occurred overnight on Feb. 1.

Authorities said the incidents involved vehicle windows being damaged with a BB gun. A total of twelve vehicles were vandalized, according to police. The vehicles were parked in the 900-1200 and 1400 blocks of R Street, the 1100-1300 blocks of T Street, the 700 block of Hardin Road, the 1500 block of Inyo and the 1000 block of Yolo, according to authorities.

Vehicle burglary

Newman police said tools valued at $1,700 were reported stolen Jan. 27 from a company truck parked in the 1700 block of Fresno Street. A power cutter and miscellaneous wrenches were reported stolen in that incident.

Theft

Authorities said a laptop delivered to a home in the 1200 block of Canvasback was reported stolen Jan. 28 from the porch of the residence. The loss was estimated at $302.

Vehicle stolen, recovered

Newman police said a 1988 Toyota pickup was reported stolen Jan. 31 from the 600 block of Rodeo Grounds. The vehicle was located by Merced police the same day.

Arrests

The following were among arrests reported by Newman police from Jan. 27 through Feb. 2. The arrest report includes incidents in which an individual was released on citation as well as cases in which a suspect was booked.

Juan C. Lopez, 22, of Newman, was arrested Jan. 27 on a felony warrant out of Stanislaus County Superior Court.

Jose A. Canales, 36, of Newman, was arrested Jan. 27 on misdemeanor charges of possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and driving without a license.

Diyan M. Santiago, 30, of Newman, was arrested Jan. 28 on a misdemeanor charge of driving on a suspended or revoked license.

Yessica Ariz Mendis Torres, 36, of Hilmar, was arrested Jan. 28 on a misdemeanor charge of driving without a license.

A 15-year-old Ceres male was arrested Jan. 28 on a misdemeanor charge of driving without a license.

Jose Juarez, 46, of Gustine, was arrested Jan. 28 on a misdemeanor charge of driving on a suspended or revoked license.

Jesus Ochoa Rodriguez, 41, of Modesto, was arrested Jan. 29 on a misdemeanor charge of driving without a license.

Daniel Ramos Orozco, 31, of Newman, was arrested Jan. 29 on a misdemeanor charge of driving without a license.

Jose A. Medina Frias, 43, of Newman, was arrested Jan. 31 on a misdemeanor charge of driving on a suspended or revoked license.

Jimmy DeLaCruz, 31, of Newman, was arrested Feb. 1 on a misdemeanor charge of possession of a controlled substance.

Activity report

Newman police received 69 calls for service, reported 70 officer-initiated incidents, handled 37 cases, made 12 arrests, wrote 12 traffic citations and issued three parking tickets from Jan. 27 through Feb. 2, according to the department’s activity report.

GUSTINE POLICE

Vandalism cases

Gustine police said a vacant residence in the 500 block of Fifth Avenue was vandalized in an incident reported Jan. 30. Windows were shattered in that incident, police said, resulting in damage estimated at $900.

A vehicle in the 300 block of Seventh Street was “egged” in an incident reported Jan. 30, resulting in damage estimated at $1,000.

Stolen vehicle

Police said a 1989 Toyota Camry left by its owner at Highway 33 and Gun Club because it needed repairs was stolen in an incident reported Feb. 1. The vehicle was subsequently recovered by the Merced County Sheriff’s Office with one suspect in custody, police reported.

Attempted theft

Authorities said the attempted theft of a Honda Civic from the 300 block of Fifth Street was reported on Jan. 30.

Arrests

The following were among arrests reported by Gustine police from Jan. 27 through Feb. 3. The arrest report includes incidents in which an individual was released on citation as well as cases in which a suspect was booked.

Sirgio D. Scott, 31, of Gustine, was arrested Jan. 31 on misdemeanor charges of trespassing and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Greycy A. Gonzalez, 27, of Avenal, was arrested Feb. 2 on a misdemeanor charge of driving without a license.

Jessica Y. Reyes, 29, of Gustine, was arrested Feb. 3 on a felony warrant.

Eric A. Brown, 39, of Newman, was arrested Feb. 3 on a felony charge of forging or altering a vehicle registration.

Activity report

Gustine police received 60 calls for service, reported 127 officer-initiated incidents, handled 19 cases, made four arrests and issued 12 traffic citations from Jan. 27 through Feb. 3, according to the department’s activity report.
