NEWMAN – A 42-year-old Newman man was arrested early Wednesday morning in the stabbing death of a local woman with whom he had a dating relationship, the Stanislaus County Sheriff's Department reported late this afternoon.

Arrest in brandishing case

Gustine police said one teen was arrested and charges are being sought against a second following a Sept. 25 report of two males, one with a firearm, hitting a vehicle in the area of Second Avenue and Fourth Street.

Robbery arrest

Authorities said a Patterson man was arrested Sept. 26 on charges of committing a robbery at a residence in the 600 block of Balsam Drive on that date.

Newman police said a vandalism was reported Sept. 5 to a home under construction on Kaya Drive.

Gustine police said Richard’s Market was broken into on Sept. 8.

Officers responding to an alarm at the business arrived to find that a rock had been thrown through a glass front door and two bottles of alcohol were taken. It was unknown if other items were taken. The damage was estimated at $500. The stolen alcohol was valued at $20.

Gustine police said a generator valued at $800 was reported stolen Aug. 28 from the 1400 block of North Avenue.

Authorities said a Modesto woman faces multiple charges following a Sept. 2 incident which began in Newman and ended with her arrest near Gustine.

Newman police said three vandalism cases were recently reported.
