Newman police said miscellaneous tools and two tool boxes were reported stolen April 18 from the attached garage of a home in the 800 block of Castellona Drive. The loss was estimated at $800.


Police said a package valued at $100 was reported stolen April 16 from the porch of a home in the 600 block of Real Avenue.

Attempted burglary

Authorities said two 16-year-old Newman males were arrested April 15 on suspicion of attempting to break in to the concession stand at Barrington Park. Police responding to a 10 p.m. report of suspicious activity found the juveniles near the building and a metal pole wedged past the window bars and into the wooden boards of the stand. Each was cited on a felony charge of attempted burglary and a misdemeanor charge of vandalism, police reported.


The following were among additional arrests reported by Newman police from April 15-21. The arrest report includes incidents in which individuals were released on citation as well as cases in which a suspect was booked.

Francisco Jara, 50, of Newman, was arrested April 20 on misdemeanor charges of drug possession and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Jorge Hurtado, 44, of Newman, was arrested April 21 on a misdemeanor charge of driving without a license.

Rigoberto Cornejo, 40, of Newman, was arrested April 21 on misdemeanor charges of drug possession and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Activity report

Newman police received 99 calls for service, reported 56 officer-initiated incidents, handled 13 cases, made six arrests, issued three traffic citations and wrote eight parking tickets from April 15-21, according to the department’s weekly report.


Stolen vehicle

Gustine police said a 1998 Lincoln Navigator was reported stolen April 17 from the 700 block of Railroad.  Police said the vehicle was recovered April 21 by Hayward area CHP, with one suspect in custody.


Police said one person was transported to Los Banos Memorial with minor injuries following a two-vehicle collision April 16 at Fifth Street and Fourth Avenue. 


Gustine police said a 16-year-old Manteca juvenile was arrested April 22 on misdemeanor charges of possession of a narcotic controlled substance and driving without a license. The juvenile was released on citation.

Activity report

Gustine police responded to 76 calls for service, reported 151 officer-initiated incidents, handled 19 cases, made five arrests and wrote five parking tickets from April 16-22, according to the department’s activity report.
