Police said two tires were slashed on a vehicle parked in the 700 block of Driskell Avenue in an incident reported March 16. The damage was estimated at $350.
The following were among arrests reported by Newman police from March 11-17. The arrest report includes incidents in which an individual was released on citation as well as cases in which a suspect was booked.
Martin V. Vargas, 33, of Modesto, was arrested March 11 on misdemeanor charges of displaying false registration tabs and driving on a license which had been suspended or revoked.
Jose L. Vazquez Leyva, 32, of Newman, was arrested March 14 on a misdemeanor charge of violating a court order.
William A. Mendoza, 25, of San Jose, was arrested March 14 for driving on a suspended or revoked license. The charge is a misdemeanor.
Steve C. Mendoza, 36, of Newman, was arrested March 14 on misdemeanor charges of being a prohibited person in possession of ammunition, obstructing a police officer, drug possession and possession of drug paraphernalia, as well as two felony warrants out of Stanislaus County Superior Court.
Jonathan Delgadillo Perez, 26, of Patterson, was arrested March 17 on misdemeanor charges of DUI and drug possession.
Marco A. Martinez Sanchez, 35, of Patterson, was arrested March 17 on a misdemeanor charge of driving without a license.
Newman police received 90 calls for service, reported 51 officer-initiated incidents, handled 21 cases, made 10 arrests, wrote six traffic tickets and issued two parking citations from March 11-17, according to the department’s activity report.
Gustine police said a 14-year-old male reported being confronted March 15 in Schmidt Park by two males, one of whom ripped a chain from the victim’s neck and displayed an apparent firearm in his waistband.
Police said the victim was in the park with another juvenile when they were approached by the two males, who initially asked if they wanted to buy drugs.
Authorities said the suspects reportedly left the scene in a dark brown SUV.
The incident was reported at about 4:30 p.m.
Highway 33, Sullivan Road
Police said a two-vehicle collision March 17 at 9:30 p.m. resulted in major damage to both vehicles but no injuries to the occupants.
The accident occurred when a southbound driver on Highway 33 attempted to make a left-hand turn onto Sullivan in the path of an oncoming motorist, police reported.
Gustine police said a 2004 Chevrolet Impala was reported stolen March 17 from an Edith Drive address.

Ricardo Moran, 19, of Gustine, was arrested March 12 on a felony warrant.
A 14-year-old Gustine juvenile was arrested March 13 on misdemeanor charges of possession of marijuana on school grounds.
A 32-year-old Gustine resident was arrested March 16 on a misdemeanor domestic battery charge.
Gustine police received 67 calls for service, reported 186 officer-initiated incidents, handled 23 cases, made five arrests, issued six traffic citations and wrote four parking citations from March 12-19, according to the department’s activity report.
