NEWMAN POLICE

Vandalism

Newman police said a worker arriving to clean the city animal shelter and feed Monday morning discovered that a kennel had been cut open and the dog housed there was missing. Police said it appears access to the shelter was gained by jumping the perimeter fence. No damage estimate was listed.

Thefts

Police said two thefts were reported July 15.

A garbage container valued at $75 was reported stolen from the 800 block of Foxglove.

A lawn mower and mountain bike were reported stolen from the 1300 block of Eucalyptus. The loss was estimated at $300.

Stolen vehicle

Police said a 2017 Mitsubishi Outlander was reported stolen July 16 after being left parked near the city skate park on Hardin Road. The vehicle had not been recovered as of Tuesday morning.

Arrests

The following were among arrests reported by Newman police from July 15-21. The arrest report includes incidents in which an individual was released on citation as well as cases in which a suspect was booked.

Rigoberto Cornejo, 40, of Newman, was arrested July 16 on a felony charge of carrying a concealed dirk or dagger, a felony bench warrant out of Stanislaus County Superior Court, and misdemeanor charges of drug possession and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Osvaldo Sanchez, 18, of Newman, was arrested July 17 on a misdemeanor charge of driving without a license.

Cristian Hernandez Ramirez, 31, of Crows Landing, was arrested July 17 on a misdemeanor charge of driving on a suspended or revoked license.

Yanet Lira, 44, of Newman, was arrested July 20 on a misdemeanor charge of driving on a suspended or revoked license.

Marcial Perez, 63, of Dinuba, was arrested July 21 on a misdemeanor charge of driving on a license suspended for DUI.

A 17-year-old Newman female was arrested July 21 on felony charges of attempted assault with a deadly weapon and making threats with the intent to terrorize, as well as a misdemeanor assault/battery charge.

Activity report

Newman police received 84 calls for service, reported 67 officer-initiated incidents, handled 21 cases, made six arrests and issued 17 traffic citations from July 15-21, according to the department’s activity report.

GUSTINE POLICE

Vehicle thefts

Gustine police said two vehicle thefts were reported on July 21.

A 2015 Volkswagen Jetta was reported stolen from the area of West Avenue and Brentwood.

A Chevrolet Tahoe was reported stolen from the 500 block of Fifth Street.

Neither vehicle had been recovered as of Tuesday morning.

Arrests

The following were among arrests reported by Gustine police from July 15-22. The arrest report includes incidents in which an individual was released on citation as well as cases in which a suspect was booked.

Yadira Sevilla, 40, of Los Banos, was arrested July 20 on a misdemeanor charge of driving on a suspended license.

Hector M. DeLaCruz Jr., 29, of Gustine, was arrested July 21 on a misdemeanor charge of driving on a license suspended for DUI.

Juan A. Ramos Sicairos, 30, of Gustine, was arrested July 21 on a misdemeanor charge of driving on a suspended license.

Activity report

Gustine police received 83 calls for service, reported 117 officer-initiated incidents, handled 20 cases, made four arrests, wrote five traffic tickets and issued two parking citations from July 16-22, according to the department’s activity report.
