Newman Police

Activity Report

The Newman Police Department received 59 calls for service and reported 83 officer-initiated calls for a total of 142 incidents from Jan. 6 to Jan. 12. There were 29 cases opened and 18 arrested. 

The department issued 12 traffic citations, four criminal citations, one animal citation and 12 parking citations. Six vehicles were towed.

Burglary 

Multiple outbuildings and other rooms were burglarized and damaged at Orestimba High School on Jan. 9, the Newman Police Department reported.

An equipment container was broken into and had tax receipts, bank statements and other office supplies stolen. Damaged were the lockers between the baseball fields, the snack bar’s main entrance door and the door to the football locker room.

The police department said the case was closed for lack of leads.

Arrests

Jose Mendoza, 43, of Newman was arrested on Jan. 6 for being a felon in possession of ammunition.

Emmanuel Rodriguez, 33, of Gustine was arrested on Jan. 6 for driving on a suspended license.

Saul Vargas Salazar, 48, of Newman was arrested on Jan. 7 for a DUI and a DUI of .08 or more.

Angel Martinez Casillas, 34, of Newman was arrested on Jan. 7 for being an unlicensed driver.

Felipe Armenta III, 35, of Patterson was arrested on Jan. 7 for violation of a domestic violence court order.

Andrew Soto, 32, of Newman was arrested on Jan. 8 for disorderly conduct.

Thomas Slauson, 29, of Newman was arrested on Jan. 9 for battery.

Blake Saenz, 34, of Newman was arrested on Jan. 10 for trespassing.

Sarah Schaa, 25, of Newman was arrested on Jan. 10 for trespassing and possession of a controlled substance.

David Gutierrez, 26, of Newman was arrested on Jan. 11 for being an unlicensed driver.

Juan Lopez, 43, of Newman was arrested on Jan. 11 for possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and warrants.

Osvaldo Sanchez, 21, of Newman was arrested n Jan. 11 for driving on a suspended license.

Alejandra Martinez, 29, of Ceres was arrested on Jan. 12 for being an unlicensed driver.

Tomas Barela, 54, of Stockton was arrested on Jan. 12 for being an unlicensed driver.

Yair Tosqui, 40, of Gustine was arrested on Jan. 12 for being an unlicensed driver.

Rosemary Hernandez, 34, of Newman was arrested on Jan. 2 for driving on a license suspended for DUI and a warrant.
