Newman police said the windshield of a rental truck parked near the city’s skate park was damaged in a vandalism reported April 30. The damage was estimated at $250.
Police said multiple items were reported stolen May 2 from a residence in the 700 block of Driskell Avenue.
The victim reported that a money order and two bank cards were taken from a mail box, a car battery was taken from the trunk of a vehicle and a key fob was taken from inside the home. The loss was estimated at $1,836. The burglary occurred between the dates of March 21 and April 1, according to the police report.
Police said a Chevrolet Avalanche was reported stolen May 1 from the 400 block of Red Lion Way. The vehicle was recovered May 6 by Oakland police. It had been damaged and stripped.
The following were among arrests reported by Newman police from April 29 through May 5. The arrest report includes incidents in which an individual was released on citation as well as cases in which a suspect is booked.
Gregorio N. Chavez Sanchez, 40, of Waterford, was arrested April 29 on a misdemeanor charge of driving without a license.
Jesus Z. Avila, 24, of Newman, was arrested April 29 on misdemeanor charges of exhibition of speed and driving without a license.
Beatriz Aguilar, 20, of Newman, was arrested May 2 on a misdemeanor charge of driving without a license.
Alfredo Castro, 59, of San Luis Obispo, was arrested May 2 on a misdemeanor drug possession charge.
Joshua J. Pimentel, 32, of Ceres, was arrested May 5 on a misdemeanor charge of driving on a suspended or revoked license.
Newman police received 97 calls for service, reported 58 officer-initiated incidents, handled 26 cases, made 12 arrests, wrote 13 traffic citations and issued one parking ticket from April 29 through May 5, according to the department’s activity report.
Gustine police said a vehicle in the 1200 block of Le Salle Way was vandalized in an incident reported May 5. The vehicle was keyed in that incident. No damage estimate was listed.
Authorities said fencing valued at $500 was reported stolen May 6 from the 200 block of Linden.
Police said a 2000 Lincoln Navigator was reported stolen May 1 from the Dollar Generalparking lot. The vehicle was subsequently recovered in the 1200 block of Southport, authorities said.
Gustine police received 82 calls for service, reported 129 officer-initiated incidents, handled 20 cases, made two arrests and issued two traffic citations from April 30 through May 6, according to the department’s activity report.
