Arrest in school vandalism
Newman police said a 17-year-old male was arrested Nov. 1 in conjunction with two graffiti incidents on the Orestimba High campus, one in a restroom discovered Nov. 1 and one discovered Oct. 1 in a baseball dugout.
The male was arrested on two misdemeanor charges of vandalism.
The damage was estimated at $125.
The following were among additional arrests reported by Newman police from Oct. 29 to Nov. 4. The arrest report includes incidents in which an individual was released on citation as well as cases in which a suspect was booked.
Saul A. Gomez, 18, of Newman, was arrested Oct. 29 on a misdemeanor charge of driving without a license.
Andrew L. Soto, 28, of Turlock, was arrested Oct. 29 on a misdemeanor charge of public intoxication and a felony charge of violating probation.
Jose Andrade Cruz, 23, of San Leandro, was arrested Oct. 31 for driving on a suspended or revoked license. The charge is a misdemeanor.
Ceasar T. Bueno, 29, of Gustine, was arrested Nov. 1 on a misdemeanor charge of driving on a license suspended for DUI.
Randall H. Burton, 31, of Newman, was arrested Nov. 2 on misdemeanor charges of DUI and driving on a license suspended for DUI.
Bobby R. Arthurlee Jr., 27, of Newman, was arrested Nov. 3 on a misdemeanor charge of driving on a suspended or revoked license.
Rafael Galvan, 47, of Modesto, was arrested Nov. 4 for driving on a suspended or revoked license. The charge is a misdemeanor.
A 17-year-old Newman male was arrested Nov. 4 on a misdemeanor charge of driving without a license.
Jimmy DeLaCruz, 30, of Newman, was arrested Nov. 4 for drug possession.
Newman police received 94 calls for service, reported 53 officer-initiated incidents, handled 24 cases, made 14 arrests, issued nine traffic citations, wrote nine parking tickets and issued three animal-related citations from Oct. 29 through Nov. 4, according to the department’s activity report.
A number of theft cases were recently reported to Gustine police.
Tools valued at $300 were reported stolen Oct. 31 from the back of a pickup in the 1400 block of Meredith.
Five political signs valued at $125 were reported stolen Oct. 31 from various locations.
Police received two reports on Nov. 2 of a male wearing a “Panda” mask taking items from local stores and then fleeing. Merchandise valued at $20 was reported stolen from Dollar General, police reported, and items valued at $100 were reported stolen from the Chevron store.
A $100 bill was reported stolen from the purse of a person attending a church event in the 300 block of Sixth Street on Nov. 3.
A variety of items, including a laptop, sunglasses, watch, purse and two iPads were reported stolen Nov. 4 from a vehicle in the 1200 block of Linden. The loss was estimated at $5,545, according to police reports.
Two gasoline cans were stolen and fuel siphoned from a vehicle in the 100 block of Second Street in an incident reported Nov. 4. The loss was estimated at $97.
A vehicle burglary was reported Nov. 4 in the 1500 block of Olson Drive. Items taken were valued at $15, but damage to the vehicle’s ignition was estimated at $400.
Police said a vehicle parked in the 1700 block of Fentem was extensively keyed in an incident reported Nov. 6. No damage estimate was available.
Gustine police said a 2003 Hyundai Elantra was reported stolen Nov. 4 from the 700 block of Elm. The vehicle had not been recovered as of Tuesday morning.

Victor Gonzalez, 34, of Santa Nella, was arrested Oct. 30 on misdemeanor charges of giving false information to a police officer, possession of drug paraphernalia and driving without a license.
Rodolfo Mendoza, 20, of Gustine, was arrested Nov. 1 on misdemeanor charges of using offensive words in a public place, possession of marijuana over 28.5 grams and possession of a controlled substance.
Steven Donson, 18, of Gustine, was arrested Nov. 4 on misdemeanor charges of petty theft and possession of marijuana over 28.5 grams.
Judy L. Hansen, 52, of Gustine, was arrested Nov. 5 on misdemeanor charges of disobeying a court order and unreasonable noise.
Gustine police received 64 calls for service, reported 93 officer-initiated incidents (including five traffic stops), took 30 reports and made five arrests from Oct. 30-Nov. 6, according to the department’s activity report.
