Trailer stolen

Newman police said a cargo trailer valued at $5,000 was reported stolen May 29 from the rear yard of a residence in the 1300 block of P Street. The theft occurred sometime between May 14 and 28, according to the reporting party.

Theft

Police said miscellaneous items, including a security camera, laptop, cash, shoes, back pack and cell phone, were reported stolen May 27 from a home in the 100 block of Q Street. The loss was estimated at $1,832.

Larceny

Police said four GMC stock rims valued at $200 were reported stolen May 30 from the driveway of a home in the 1000 block of Magpie Court.

Vandalism

Police said graffiti vandalism to the city skate park resulted in damage estimated at $100. The vandalism was discovered May 29.

Arrests

The following were among arrests reported by Newman police from May 27 to June 2. The arrest report includes incidents in which an individual was released on citation as well as cases in which a suspect was booked.

Rosa Munoz, 27, of Newman, was arrested May 27 on a misdemeanor charge of reckless driving.

Vernon Hartwell Jr., 58, of Newman, was arrested May 27 on a felony charge of making criminal threats and misdemeanor charges of exhibiting a firearm and carrying a loaded firearm in public.

Kent Staretta, 34, of Keyes, was arrested May 29 on a misdemeanor charge of driving without a license.

Lilia Regalado Cedillo, 42, of Newman, was arrested May 30 on a misdemeanor charge of driving without a license.

Sabino Arroyo, 44, of Stevinson, was arrested May 30 on misdemeanor charges of DUI and driving on a license suspended for DUI.

Orlando Zapien, 31, of Newman, was arrested May 31 on a misdemeanor charge of driving on a suspended license.

A 38-year-old Newman male was arrested June 2 on a felony domestic violence charge.

Joel Cercas, 26, of Delhi, was arrested June 2 on a misdemeanor charge of driving on a suspended license.

Activity report

Newman police received 99 calls for service, reported 50 officer-initiated incidents, handled 28 cases, made 11 arrests, issued seven traffic citations and wrote four parking tickets from May 27 to June 2, according to the department’s activity report.

GUSTINE POLICE

Stolen vehicles

Two vehicle thefts were reported to Gustine police earlier this week.

A 2005 Ford F350 was reported stolen June 2 from the 600 block of West Avenue. The vehicle was recovered later that day by Patterson Police Services.

A 1998 Honda Civic was reported stolen June 3 from the 500 block of Fifth Street. The vehicle had not been recovered as of Tuesday morning.

Burglary

Gustine police said miscellaneous items were reported stolen May 28 from the back of a truck in the 300 block of Jensen. The loss was estimated at $1,000.

Vandalism

Police said the front door of a resident in the 600 block of Eureka Court was kicked in in a vandalism reported May 30. No damage amount was listed.

Arrests

The following were among arrests reported by Gustine police from May 28 through June 3. The arrest report includes incidents in which an individual was released on citation, as well as cases in which a suspect was booked.

A 17-year-old Gustine male was arrested May 28 on a misdemeanor charge of driving without a license.

Michael V. Cossey, 48, of Gustine, was arrested May 29 on a misdemeanor charge of violating a court order.

A 37-year-old Gustine female was arrested May 31 on a misdemeanor charge relating to domestic violence.

Daniel M. Guzman, 27, was arrested June 1 on a misdemeanor charge of driving on a license suspended for DUI.

Activity report

Gustine police received 81 calls for service, reported 123 officer-initiated incidents, handled 19 cases, made six arrests, issued two traffic tickets and wrote six parking citations from May 28 through June 3, according to the department’s activity report.
