Ammie Laura (Heringer) Presley of Oxnard passed away peacefully Aug. 30 in Ventura, surrounded by family and friends, following a tragic traffic accident on Aug. 25.
She was 42.
Ms. Presley was born May 31, 1977 in Modesto.
Her large Capps-Solano-Heringer family is from California.
As a child growing up in Newman, she loved being outdoors with her friends, water skiing with her family and playing the piano with her grandmother.
She was a 1995 graduate of Orestimba High, where she played on the volleyball team and was a member of the marching band.
After graduating from high school, Ms. Presley relocated to Monterey to attend Cal State University Monterey Bay and joined the U.S. Air National Guard. She graduated from CSU Monterey Bay in 2001 with a Bachelor’s Degree in computer science.
As an Airman, she was a professional satellite communications operator. She made Master Sergeant (E7) in nine years, and deployed with the Air Force to Bolivia, Texas and Australia. Ms. Presley continued her military service and commissioned as a military officer in the Air National Guard supporting cyber and intelligence missions. In 2019, Capt. Ammie Presley had 23 years of honorable service.
Ms. Presley was a volunteer Big Sister in Roseville and supported multiple Special Olympics over five years. She enjoyed experiencing new cultures and visited over 40 countries around the world.
Ms. Presley worked as a hospital systems engineer for Perot Systems, as a telecommunications engineer for the University of California, Santa Cruz, as the program director for TTI, Inc., for eight years, and as senior systems engineer for Empirix, Inc., for more than 10 years.
She is survived by her husband, Adam Coffey; her mother and step-father, Susan and John “Jeff” Heringer III; her father, Jose Solano; a sister, Holly Heringer; two brothers, John Heringer IV and Aaron Solano; and a sister-in-law, Pauline Sung.
She will be dearly missed by her family and many friends.
On Friday, September 13, 2019, at 11 a.m. a Military Honors Funeral will be held for Ms. Presley at the California Central Coast Veterans Cemetery, 2900 Parker Flats Road, Seaside, CA 93955.
Immediately following the funeral, all family and friends are welcome from 12 noon to 3 p.m. at a Celebration of Life in the Embassy Suites Grand Ballroom, 1441 Canyon Del Rey Blvd., Seaside, CA 93955.
