James Willis Walton of Modesto passed away Wednesday, Dec. 25, at his residence.
He was 89.
Mr. Walton was born in Los Angeles. He was a resident of Modesto for 34 years.
He worked for the United States Postal Service and was a postmaster for 12 years.
Mr. Walton was a U.S. Army veteran.
He enjoyed wood working, metal detecting and collecting.
He volunteered with the SOSP, and was a former Rotarian.
Mr. Walton is survived by his sons, Kent Walton of Cedar Ridge, Keith Walton of Downey and Kris Walton of Gustine; nine grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Edythe Walton; and a son, Kevin Walton.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 9, in San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery, Santa Nella.
