Former Newman resident John Joseph Homen, 89, of Hughson passed away Wednesday, Feb. 5 at the Samaritan Village in Hughson.
Mr. Homen was born in Gustine. He was a resident of Hughson for the past 10 years.
He was a creamery worker at Avoset for more than 30 years, and owned a video store in Newman.
Mr. Homen was a parishioner at St. Joachim’s Catholic Church, Newman. He was a member of the Portuguese Fraternal Society of America, a charter member of the Elks Lodge in Los Banos, a life member of the Newman Moose Lodge and a Fourth Degree member of Knights of Columbus.
He is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Bea Homen.
A visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 18, at St. Joachim’s Catholic Church, followed by a rosary and mass of Christian burial.
Interment will follow in Hills Ferry Cemetery.
