Aldeana Polumsky

Aldeana Dias Polumsky, 83, of Newman passed away Jan. 9.

Mrs. Polumsky was born June 15, 1935, in Vernalis to Elias Dias and Mary Nunes Dias.

She was one of 10 siblings, including Mary Carvalho, Irma Issom, Tony Dias, Edward Dias, Eva Fantazia, Andrew Dias, Dorothy Pires, George Dias and Angie Goeken-Taylor.

She lived most of her life in Modesto, and graduated from Modesto High in 1955.

She married Clarence Polumsky in the 1970s. They moved to Montana, then Idaho, before returning to California in 2005.

She worked as a housekeeper and cook at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church for 20 years.

Mrs. Polumsky belonged to the YLI in Modesto and Newman, and was a member of the American Legion, Manuel M. Lopes Post 240, Auxiliary in Gustine.

She enjoyed spending time with family on the Fourth of July, Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Mrs. Polumsky is survived by two siblings, Irma Issom of Galt and Edward Dias of Glendale; a niece, Jeanette Fantazia Sawyer (Bruce) of Modesto; a nephew, John Fantazia (Carole) of Arizona; a step-son, Andy Polumsky (Terri) of Montana; a brother-in-law, Andy Piers of Lake Oroville; a sister-in-law, Joan Dias of Modesto; and numerous other nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.

Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 21, at Hillview Funeral Chapel, Newman, followed by a rosary.

A mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 22, at St. Joachim’s Catholic Church, Newman.

Interment will follow in Hills Ferry Cemetery.
