Filamina “Fil” Mary Bove, 94, of Modesto, passed away Sunday, Oct. 14, at Golden Age Living in Newman.
Mrs. Bove was born in Hanford to Tetonio Mendes and Guilhermina Xavier.
She married Ralph Bove in Los Banos in 1944.
The couple resided in Tulare and Los Banos, where Mr. Bove was an insurance salesman and partner in B&B Cattle Company until his passing in 1996, commuting every fifth day or so between residences.
Mrs. Bove was a homemaker and a volunteer at Tulare District Hospital.
She moved to Modesto in 2001 and continued her volunteer work at Memorial Medical Center, where she enjoyed working with many of the other volunteers. An injury forced her to retire from her volunteer work in 2010.
Mrs. Bove is survived by nieces, nephews and close friends John and Sheila Borrelli.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Louie Mendes of Tulare.
Gratitude is extended to Young’s Senior Services of Modesto, Golden Age Living in Newman and Bristol Hospice of Merced, who so kindly cared for her.
Services will be held Monday, Oct. 22, at the Shrine of Our Lady of Miracles in Gustine.
Visitation will be at 9 a.m., followed by a mass of Christian burial at 10. Interment will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Tulare Cemetery, 900 Kern Ave., Tulare.
