Joaquin F. Medeiros, born in Merced County on Dec. 22, 1936 to parents Joe and Louisa Medeiros, died Feb. 16, 2019 at his home in Newman, surrounded by loved ones. 

Mr. Medeiros pursued a variety of occupations throughout his lifetime. Together with his first wife, Mary Ann, he farmed, raised cattle and ran other business adventures. Additionally, for many years, he drove truck for a number of businesses. He passionately devoted himself to each of his endeavors. 

Most memorably, Mr. Medeiros shared friendships with many for a lifetime, including Gustine High School classmates whom he joined monthly for lunch, past co-workers with whom he visited regularly, and others who had impacted his life. 

He is survived by two daughters, Irmie Azevedo (Tim), and Joyce Mitchell (R.B); four grandchildren, Shane Azevedo, Jennifer Saunders (Jimmy), Lance Mitchell and Ryan Mitchell; five great- grandchildren; and a myriad of other family members and friends, including Margarita D’Avila, his loving companion and caregiver.

He was preceded in death by his second wife, Shirley.

Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 26, at Hillview Funeral Chapel, Newman, with a rosary to follow. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Feb. 27 at Hillview Funeral Chapel, Newman.

Interment will follow in Hills Ferry Cemetery.
