Margaret Ann (Ribeiro) Alves of Gustine went to heaven to be with God and her beloved husband Joe on Monday, Oct. 29.
She was 91.
Mrs. Alves was born in Los Banos to Gertrude and Joe M. Ribeiro on Aug. 22, 1927.
She met her husband, Joe M. Alves, in church and they were married May 8, 1946.
They started a dairy in Volta, which they later moved to Gustine.
She was a homemaker and avid reader who enjoyed travel and gardening but most of all loved her family.
She was blessed with 12 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Her devotion to Our Lady of Miracles was an integral part of her life.
Mrs. Alves is survived by her five children, Joe Alves (Lorraine), Cecilia Waggerman (Larry), David Alves (Diane), Daniel Alves (Mary) and Rosemarie Kloepfer (Robert); two sisters, Rita Ribeiro and Delores Jorge; her grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Alves was preceded in death by two sisters, Adelina Leonard and Mary Cambra.
Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 7, at Hillview Funeral Chapel, Gustine. A rosary/mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 8, at the Shrine of Our Lady of Miracles in Gustine. Interment will follow in Hills Ferry Cemetery.
