Maureen Moffitt Mattos, 78, passed away Oct. 2 at her home in Rancho Murieta.
Mrs. Mattos was born Aug. 15, 1940, in Marysville to Joe and Barbara Moffitt.
She was raised in Stockton, and graduated from Lincoln High School and the University of the Pacific.
She married Bob Mattos of Newman on May 30, 1964.
Mrs. Mattos was a public school teacher for more than 30 years. In retirement, she enjoyed gardening, traveling with her husband and volunteering for the Assistance League, Governor’s Mansion and Children’s Home.
She is survived by two sons, Doug Mattos (Jennifer) of Rancho Murieta and Bruce Mattos (Julie) of Sacramento; and grandchildren Ally, Olivia, Sofia, Nicholas, Emma and Caroline.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 2010.
Visitation will be from 6-7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 5, at St. Joachim’s Catholic Church, Newman, with a rosary to follow. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 6 in Hills Ferry Cemetery.
A celebration of life will be held Monday, Oct. 8, in Rancho Murieta.
