Richard Lynel Dudley passed away Thursday, May 2, at 7:30 a.m. in Newman.
He was 85.
Mr. Dudley was born Aug. 24, 1933, in Wapanucka, Okla., to Marvin and Dora Dudley.
He married Andrea R. Dudley on July 12, 1957, in Delano, Calif., and together they raised four children.
In 1960 they moved to Newman, where Mr. Dudley worked for the Newman-Crows Landing Unified School District for 28 years.
He belonged to the Moose Lodge, and enjoyed throwing horseshoes, playing poker and watching live horse racing.
His favorite past times were attending his grandchildren’s sporting events and spending time with family and friends.
Mr. Dudley is survived by three sons, Rick Dudley (Annette), Donald Dudley (Gail) and Mitch Dudley (Diane); a daughter, Charlene Soares (Bill Murillo); 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Andrea R. Dudley.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 11, at Hillview Funeral Chapel, 1258 R. St., Newman.
