Ronald Andrew Vasquez, 50, of Newman, passed away Oct. 29 in San Diego.
Mr. Vasquez was born in Fresno, Calif., and grew up in Newman. He graduated from Davis High School in Modesto.
He worked in the HVAC field in Sacramento for a number of years and then worked in construction for Purdom Enterprises. He then attended Grossmont College, specializing in the culinary art program, and most recently worked as a cook for the San Diego Convention Center.
Mr. Vasquez will be remembered by friends and family for his wit and humor. He was a devoted Christian who helped others in need and had a big heart for those who were down and out.
Mr. Vasquez is survived by his mother, Olivia Elizondo; step-father, Ed Elizondo; two daughters, Sophia and Natalie; two sons, Ivan and Andrew; a brother, Tony Vasquez III; and a sister, Yvette Bunting; as well as a niece and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Bernard Vasquez.
A memorial service will be held at Orestimba Presbyterian Church on Saturday, Nov. 16, at 3 p.m. A reception will follow in the church social hall.
Memorials may be given in his honor to the American Cancer Society or Teen Challenge.
