Ronald William York of Newman passed away Sunday, Dec. 27 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Stockton.

He was 82.

Mr. York was born in St. Louis, Missouri to Charles Ben York and Ruby Diana York. He was a resident of Newman for 29 years.

He was a retired wind tunnel operator for NASA Ames Research Center in Mt. View.

Mr. York was involved in “Legends of the American West” re-enactments for 30 years. He enjoyed being an extra in many western movies.

He was a pilot who loved flying and was an air show boss for several air shows.  Mr. York was a member of AOPA and EAA Warbirds of America.

He is survived by his wife, Angela (Relvas) York; a step-son, Lance Perry (Kendra) of Crows Landing; a step-daughter, Yvette Perry of Sacramento; three grandchildren, Justus Perry (Stephanie), Cheyenne Perry and Kai Hone; two great-grandchildren, Skylar Perry and Maverick Perry; a brother, Charles Ben York (Fran) of Sacramento; a brother-in-law, John Relvas (Donna); two sisters-in-law, Mary Coelho and Bernice Arnett (Don);  and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to noon Thursday, Jan. 14, at Hillview Funeral Chapel, Newman. A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 14, in Hills Ferry Cemetery, Newman. Masks will be required at all services.
