To the editor:
In December, the Newman Salvation Army conducted its kettle bell-ringing campaign, followed by the food distribution for seniors and families of the Newman Tots.
It was a very busy but fruitful, month. We had a total number of seniors and families of 125, and served a total of 185 people. Twenty-five volunteers, serving a total of 101 hours, were involved in distributing food and gifts to the seniors and Newman Tots families.
The Salvation Army bell-ringing took place at four locations: Bank of the West, JJ Liquors, Newman Food Center, and Chevron.
We on the Newman Salvation Army Committee and the West Side Senior Awareness Committee would like to emphasize that the big thank you at the beginning of this letter is being sent out to all the many groups and people who helped us with these two events in any way.
Your gracious volunteerism makes our community a better place for those in need. So once again, thank you!
