To the editor:

As the 2018 Orestimba football season has come to a close, I want to thank all the individuals who helped make this football season another success on and off the field. Our program year in and year out is blessed with an abundance of resources and support that enrich the experience for our student athletes.

The first thank you goes to the game night crew, which includes our announcer Alouis Martin, clock operator Jeff Zalinksi, and the cannon crew of the Serpa family and Amos Martinez.

We are also grateful to three individuals for their willingness to support our student athletes on a daily basis, Jerry Valenzuela, Stephen Roberts and Nancy Lerno. I also would like to thank Mike Mutoza for volunteering his Friday nights to be on our sideline.

The following individuals and businesses deserve recognition for feeding our varsity team throughout the season: Thompson Chevrolet, Eric & Denise Medeiros,  Crows Landing Lions Club, Mike and Sarah Barcellos, Ryan and Jill Crow, Alouis Martin, Bill Mattos, Stewart & Jasper Orchards, Don and Bernice Arnett and Justin and Charise Pruett. Thanks also to Tammy Martin and Scott Schaa for their setup and cleanup of our weekly meals.  I would like to also thank Houston Manufacturing for continuing to sponsor our players’ Warrior Gear.

Our Newman-Crows Landing Unified School District and Orestimba administrative teams continue to support our football program on an annual basis. Those individuals include Superintendent Randy Fillpot, Finance Director Caralyn Mendoza, Principal Justin Pruett and Athletic Director John Labno. Director of Maintenance Matt Vargas along with lead groundskeeper Danny Alves and their crews continue to have our facilities ready each day.

On a personal note, I want to thank my wife and family for continuing to support me the past nine seasons. My varsity staff deserves a thank you for their diligent hard work and loyalty that they put forth all season. A round of applause goes to JV head coach Mario Martins and his staff for continuing to get our football players ready for the varsity level.

Most importantly, I want to thank the Lord for all support and resources that come forward every season for the betterment of our program.

Lastly, thank you to all the football players who continue to work extremely hard in representing our team, our community and school district each Friday night in the fall. Everyone listed above is part of this team and the team is symbolized into one word, family.
