Vandalism

Police said two windows on a vehicle parked in the 1600 block of M Street were shattered in an incident reported Aug. 3. The damage was estimated at $400.

Attempted vehicle theft

Authorities said the windshield and rear window of a 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt parked on Upper Road near Canyon Creek were broken and the ignition damaged in an apparent attempt to steal the vehicle. No damage estimate was reported.

Thefts

Police said a recycling can valued at $85 was reported stolen Aug. 1 from the 1500 block of Q Street.

A license plate was reported stolen July 30 from a vehicle in the 1300 block of Tamarack Court. The loss was estimated at $30.

Arrests

The following were among arrests reported by Newman police from July 29 to Aug. 4. The arrest report includes incidents in which an individual was released on citation as well as cases in which a suspect was booked.

A 17-year-old Newman male was arrested July 29 on a misdemeanor charge of driving without a license.

A 28-year-old Newman male was arrested July 29 on a misdemeanor domestic violence charge.

Mayra Minchaca Torres, 26, of Crows Landing, was arrested July 31 on a misdemeanor charge of driving on a suspended or revoked license.

Jose Garcia Miranda, 39, of Crows Landing, was arrested Aug. 1 on a misdemeanor charge of driving without a license.

Nashana A. Cervantes, 37, of Newman, was arrested Aug. 2 on a misdemeanor charge of driving without a license.

Jigneshkumar H. Patel, 34, of Stockton, was arrested Aug. 3 on a misdemeanor charge of driving on a suspended or revoked license.

Juan C. Flores Jr., 29, of Newman, was arrested Aug. 3 for misdemeanor DUI.

Christopher M. Franza, 32, of Newman, was arrested Aug. 4 on a misdemeanor charge of driving on a suspended or revoked license. 

Santiago Medina Gutierrez, 37, of Gustine, was arrested Aug. 4 for driving on a license suspended for DUI.

Activity report

Newman police received 86 calls for service, reported 68 officer-initiated incidents, handled 27 cases, made 11 arrests, issued 15 traffic citations and wrote four parking tickets from July 29 through Aug. 4, according to the department’s activity report.

GUSTINE POLICE

Vandalism

Police said a resident of the 300 block of East Avenue reported Aug. 4 that a lock to s storage shed had been cut off. Nothing was reported taken in that incident.

Theft

Authorities said license plates were stolen from a vehicle in the 1300 block of Bonta in an incident reported Aug. 1. No value estimate was listed.

Teresa L. Babb, 50, of Gustine, was arrested Aug. 2 on a misdemeanor charge of driving without a license.

Saul Roblero, 23, of Gustine, was arrested Aug. 2 on a misdemeanor charge of driving on a suspended license.

A 41-year-old Gustine male was arrested Aug. 3 on multiple felony charges relating to domestic violence.

Gilberto Cerda, 49, of Gustine, was arrested Aug. 3 on a misdemeanor charge of driving without a license.

Renee N. Wilson, 45, of Los Banos, was arrested Aug. 5 on a misdemeanor charge of driving without a license.

Activity report

Gustine police received 76 calls for service, reported 88 officer-initiated incidents, handled 21 cases, made six arrests, issued two traffic citations and wrote two parking tickets from July 30 through Aug. 5, according to the department’s activity report.
