Orestimba pitcher Tryston Martens delivers to a Stone Ridge Christian hitter in non-league action Friday in Newman.

A nine-run sixth inning lifted Orestimba past visiting Stone Ridge Christian Friday in varsity baseball action.

The Warriors, who had seen a 4-0 lead disappear earlier in the game, came away with a 13-5 victory.

Walks and errors had helped the Warriors build a 4-0 lead early, but Stone Ridge battled back with a four-run fifth to tie it.

That deadlock proved to be short-lived, as Orestimba plated nine in what proved to be its final turn at the plate.

The inning started with a base hit by Matt Martins, and quickly turned into a big frame for the Warriors, who took advantage of two errors and five free passes. In addition to Martins, Julian Lemus and Xavier Avila hit safely in the decisive inning.

Orestimba made the most of six hits. Lemus finished with two hits and drove in four runs. Martins, Avila, Guillermo Navarro and Drake Perez each had one hit on the day.

OHS 10, Weston Ranch 4

A pair of five-run innings lifted the Warriors past host Weston Ranch Wednesday afternoon.

The West Siders were shut out through four innings and trailed 1-0, but broke through with a five-run fifth. Consecutive base hits by Navarro, Perez and Martins helped fuel that inning.

Orestimba added five more in the seventh. A Lemus single was the only hit of the inning as Orestimba capitalized on walks and an error.

Weston Ranch made a late run, scoring twice in the bottom of the seventh before leaving the bases loaded as Orestimba closed out the victory.

Seven different Warriors - Martins, Lemus, Avila, Jose Morales, Joel Solano, Navarro and Perez - hit safely.

Hilmar 13, OHS 2
(Five innings)

Visiting Hilmar pulled away from the Warriors in an abbreviated game last Monday.

Orestimba trailed 10-0 before getting on the board in the fourth when Avila singled and scored.

Martins scored the final Orestimba run in the fifth after reaching base on an error. Avila delivered the RBI with a base hit.

Avila and Ethan Medeiros each had two hits for the Warriors. Martins, Morales and Tryston Martens also hit safetly.
