GHS 4, East Union 1

Gustine High’s varsity volleyball Reds visited the East Union Lancers on Aug. 25 for their season opener in a non-league match up. Ryanne Kuden takes the serve for the Lady Reds. Gustine had a phenomenal night with a 19-25, 26-24, 25-18, 26-24, 16-14 decision over the Lancers for the win. 

Alexis Gallichio was the Lady Reds solid hitter that night with six kills counted and had her hand at two digs. Leilani Aguilera, and Frankie Miske were also factors in the Lady Reds attack with five kills each. Aguilera came up with nine digs for the night.

Miske led Gustine servers with seven aces. Reina Maldanado was credited with two.

Yessiel Martinez, the Reds setter, had 19 assists. 

GHS 1, Livingston 3

On Aug. 26, the Reds visited the Livingston Wolves in a non-league match up. Gustine dropped a 24-26, 25-21, 24-26, 24-26 decision to the Wolves in these very close games. Frankie Miske had a remarkable 11 kills to lead the stats along with four aces and chipped in a block. Leilani Aguilera had seven kills, four aces and also a block. Alexis Gallichio added six kills, while Natalie Cruz recorded four kills and nine aces for for the Lady Reds.

GHS 3, Ceres High 2
(Foundation Game)

The Gustine Lady Reds volleyball squad added a win to their record Monday evening as they played Ceres High School with a 20-25, 25-19, 23-25, 25-22, 15-11 win.

Frankie Miske had 10 kills to lead the Gustine attack, while Leilani Aguilera put down eight kills and Alexis Gallichio was credited with five. Gallichio collected four aces on the night while Miske recorded a block for the Reds.

GHS JV Volleyball

Gustine visited East Union in JV action on Aug. 25. The host Lancers defeated Gustine 8-25, 17-25. Darin Nunes lead with three kills, while Christina Navarro had her share with three aces, and Mikayla Silveira chipped in with four digs. Later Gustine had a 2-0 victory decision against the Livingston Wolves.

On Monday evening the JV Reds took a 2-0 victory over the host Ceres.
