Gustine dropped non-league varsity softball decisions to Elliot Christian and Central Valley last week.
The Lady Reds fell to Elliot Christian by a 9-3 final last Wednesday afternoon.
A seven-run outburst by Elliot Christian in the fourth proved to be the difference in the contest.
Gustine had erased an early 2-0 deficit with single runs in the top of the third and fourth innings.
The Lady Reds got on the board in the third when Ryanne Kuden doubled and scored on an error.
Gustine pulled even in the fourth when Yeissel Martinez doubled and eventually scored on a grounder.
Then the game spun out of control for the Lady Reds, as Elliot Christian put together its big inning.
Gustine’s final run came in the fifth, when Kuden singled and scored a a two-out double by Maryjane Haro.
The Lady Reds collected seven hits on the day, including two each by Kuden and Tianah Vitorino. Haro, Martinez and Ashley Lomeli also hit safely.
Central Valley 21, GHS 1
Little went Gustine’s way in an abbreviated loss to visiting Central Valley last Tuesday.
A six-run Central Valley first set the tone.
Gustine’s only run came in the third, when base hits by Kuden and Lomeli set the stage and Kuden eventually scored on an error.
Those were the only two hits of the day for the Lady Reds.
