Host Orestimba finished 13th out of 28 teams in the  varsity tournament Saturday.

The Lady Warriors shook off two losses in pool play to defeat Franklin High and OHS JV squad in Orestimba’s second and third matches, while ending the day with tough losses to Golden Valley.

OHS vs Franklin:
25-22, 22-25, 15-8 (Win)

Orestimba gained it’s first set of wins with a 25-22, 22-25,15-8 win over Franklin.

The Lady Warriors withstood a number of Franklin scoring run in the contest to prevail.

Janessa Marquez put down nine kills to lead Orestimba, while Xitlally Hererra collected four and Joslyn Sotelo had three.

Marquez again led with 14 digs, Reagan Matthews chipped in with 10 and Sotelo added eight. Sky Felber collected four service aces, while Sotelo pitched in with two.

OHS vs OHS JV:

25-21, 25-20 (Win)

Orestimba got on a winning track with a 25-21, 25-20 win over the Orestimba JV team.

Marquez contributed at the net and defensively with four kills and nine digs to lead in both categories.

Felber also had four kills, and Ciera Thibodeau chipped in 3. Taylor Gray finished with two service aces; Matthews collect six digs and setter Sky Felber collected 13 assists.

OHS vs Enochs:
16-25, 19-25 (Loss)

Orestimba had gotten off to a slow start and couldn’t find their rhythm in pool play, suffering a 16-25,19-25 setback against Enochs in the Lady Warriors’ tournament opener. 

Marquez finished with four kills and five digs at the net. Matthews came up with a team leading seven digs, Sotelo had a solid effort with three kills and four digs, and Emily Lopez, Matthews, and Gray each collected a service ace. Felber chipped in nine assists. 

OHS vs Golden Valley: 16-25, 17-25 (Loss)

A strong Golden Valley team prevailed over Orestimba 16-25, 17-25 to close out the day for the Lady Warriors.

Thibodeau, Lopez, Marquez, and Herrera each led the squad with two kills each. Felber had a solid all around effort with nine assists, two service aces and one block, while  Matthews contributed seven digs for the Warriors.

The Warriors take on Beyer High School at Beyer starting at 4 p.m. Thursday and end the week with a JV only tournament at home Saturday.
