After coming off a fantastic modified season last year going 11-2 overall and 9-1 in the Southern League, the varsity Warriors girls basketball team looks to continue with their winning ways in the 2021-2022 full season.

In their first game Nov. 23 Reagan Marroquin scored 20 points, grabbed three offensive rebounds and four steals to help the Warriors beat the visiting Central Valley Hawks 58-23 on Nov. 23  for their home opener victory.

Ciera Thibodeau added 17 points, five rebounds and five steals for the Warriors.

Orestimba led 12-0 after the first quarter and by as many as 28 points in the half.

But the Warriors were forced to turnover the ball 10 times and were also held to 36.8% shooting including going 0 for 12 from 3-point range during their 58-23 victory.

Grace McCauley (7 points, 2 rebounds), Taylor Gray (6 points, 3 rebounds, 8 assists), and Rosa Parkin (3 points, 4 rebounds, 3 steals) were other top contributors to the Warriors win.

OHS 52, LBHS 50

Ciera Thibodeau scored a double-double with an amazing 29 point and 12 rebounds, while Reagan Marroquin hit four 2-pointers and one 3-pointer finishing with 13 points as the Orestimba Warriors beat the Los Banos Tigers 52-50 in Monday night's game.

The Warriors had a one point, 22-21, lead at the half and continued that dominance in the second when they were able to outscore their opponent for the remainder of the regulation game.

Thibodeau was 10 for 24 from the field and made 9 out of 11 free throws during her season-high scoring game. Marroquin was 2 for 2 from the free throw line and went 5 for 18 from the field.

Grace McCauley (8 points, 5 rebounds), and Olivia Gray (2 points, 5 rebounds) were other keys players during Orestimba’s victory.

Coming up the Warriors will be entering into the Los Banos Tournament from Dec. 2 to Dec. 4  and following they will face off Dec. 6 against the visiting Yellowjackets from Hilmar. Game times for the tournament will be announced at a later time, while the game against Hilmar will start at 7 p.m. 

JV OHS 45, CVHS 19

The JV Warriors played host to the visiting Central Valley Hawks on Nov. 23, prevailing with a 45-19 victory. At the half the Warriors led the Hawks 17-4 and pushed on in the second half to put up their final 28 points compared to the final 15 for the Hawks.

Lily Rocha led the way with 14 points, Kelsey Maninha had her hand at seven, right behind her was Jenessa Gonzalez with six, Olivia Gray with five and Shantelle Pizarro chipped in three points.
