Top honors in last week’s Mattos Newspapers Football Contest went to Cory Peters.
Peters was one of two contestants to correctly predict the outcome of 21 games on the entry form. He collected $25 for his efforts.
Debbie Crawford also had 21 correct predictions, but placed second via the tie-breaker process.
She earns $15.
Third place went to Joe Silva, who had 20 correct picks. He will collect $10.
Several other contestants had 20 correct predictions. They included Jerry Silva, Alan Fantazia and Jim Vierra.
With one week left in the contest, Jim Vierra moved into the lead in the season-long race for the most overall points. A $100 prize will be awarded to the top finisher. Jim Vierra stands in first place with 20,340 points. He is trailed by Jim Tacheira (20,284), Gary Crawford (20,272), Marcus Vierra (20,195), Debbie Crawford (20,159) and Mike Perry (20,110).
