Orestimba claimed three of the five Southern League championships decided in the league finals last week. Orestimba’s tennis team earned three championships at the Southern League finals last week.

Lacy Dudley won the girls’ singles championship; Jesus Gonzalez and Marco Aleman claimed the boys’ doubles title; and Jerry Marquez and Gabby Villarreal were the mixed doubles champions.

They will advance to the Division tournament today (Thursday) and Friday in Stockton.

Dudley, after a first-round bye, defeated a Ripon Christian opponent 6-2, 6-3 and beat a Waterford foe 6-4, 3-6, 10-3 to advance to the championship match. Dudley defeated a Delhi player 6-2, 6-0 to claim the title.

Gonzalez and Aleman opened their title run with a 6-1, 6-2 win over a Waterford player, prevailed 6-4, 3-6, 10-6 over a Delhi duo, advanced to the championship with a 4-6, 6-4, 10-7 decision over a Denair doubles team and won the title with a 6-2, 6-3 win against Delhi.

Marquez and Villarreal opened the tournament with a 6-0, 6-0 win against Turlock Christian, won 7-5, 3-6, 10-7 in the second round against Delhi, took a 6-2, 6-3 victory over Ripon Christian and won the championship with a 7-5, 6-1 win over a Waterford opponent.

In other Orestimba results from the league finals:

• Villarreal won a first-round singles match 6-3, 6-4 against Daniela Palomino of Gustine and fell to a Delhi player 3-6, 2-6 in the second round.

• In singles play, Ethan Cerutti posted a first-round 6-2, 6-1 win over a Waterford foe and lost 2-6, 0-6 in the second round to a Denair player.

• Noe Segundo won his first-round singles match with a 1-6, 6-4, 10-8 win over a Ripon Christian opponent before falling to a Denair player 0-6, 7-5, 8-10 in second-round play.

• Tim Junkin and R.J. Garcia won their opening doubles match 6-3, 6-4 against Gustine’s John Massey and Cesar Villalobos and advanced with a 6-3, 6-7 (3-7), 10-8 win over Ripon Christian opponents before dropping a 6-4, 2-6, 8-10 third-round decision to Delhi.

• Cerutti and Segundo teamed up for a 6-7 (6-8), 6-4, 10-8 win over Delhi opponents before falling 6-4, 4-6, 4-10 to a Denair team in second-round play.

• Bryzette Perez and Madison Cabral dropped a first-round doubles match to Gustine’s Rosie Rico and Daniela Palomino, 2-6, 2-6.

• Abraham Gutierrez and Rylee Garcia won their opening mixed doubles match 7-5, 6-2 over a Delhi team before falling 6-3, 3-6, 7-10 to another Delhi entry.
