Gustine worked overtime but came up short in varsity boys basketball action at Stone Ridge Christian Thursday.

The two teams were deadlocked at 38-all at the end of regulation in a game that was close throughout, but the host Knights eventually prevailed 48-45.

Danny Hernandez hit four treys on the night to lead the West Siders with 12 points, and Gio Quezada was in double figures with 11. Tyler Borba put up seven points, Tristan Brace netted four, Angel Toledo, Danny Quezada and Mateo Gallichio each scored three and Alejandro Lugo added two points for the Reds.

Hilmar 67, GHS 45

Visiting Hilmar took control in the first quarter and went on to defeat the Reds earlier in the week.

Gustine was unable to rally from a 22-6 first-quarter deficit.

Noel Perez and Hernandez each finished with eight points for the Reds.

Borba, Johnathan Martin and David Gonzales each put up six points, Quezada and Adrian Morales added four each, Trenton Cremeen was in the book with two points and Gallichio hit a free throw.
