The Gustine Reds varsity boys soccer team kicked off their season playing host to the visiting Patterson Tigers from the CCC league Friday night in a non-league match up. The visiting Tigers prevailed with a 2-0 victory over the Reds.

I was very happy with this game," said Varsity coach Octavio Martinez. "Patterson is a hard team and we were for the most part playing very good soccer.  We still have to work on small details and make smarter decisions, especially when we are under pressure. Varsity needs more work on the finishing line but overall very happy with the  team's performance.”

The Reds will return to the soccer field Tuesday in a non-league home game against the visiting Dos Palos Broncos. Game time will begin at 5:30 p.m.
