The boys varsity Reds squad faced off against the visiting Hilmar Yellowjacks in a CIF Sac-Joaquin Section foundation game Monday night and it ended with a tough loss for Gustine. 

Gio Quezada scored 13 of the 45 points throughout the game and Gilbert Sotelo added 13 as well for the Reds but it wasn’t enough to prevail a victory against Yellowjackets in a close 46-45 loss in their home opener.

The Reds trailed by four at the half with a score of 25-21 and found momentum in the second half. Hilmar outscored Gustine by three points in the second half and was able to come away with the victory.

For other contributors to the offense Angel Toledo netted seven points, Alejandro Lugo put up six, while Tyler Borba chipped in five. Coming up during the week the Gustine Reds will enter into their annual Rotary Tournament starting Wednesday going until Friday. Times will be announced at a later time.
