Orestimba put nine runs on the board behind a 12-hit attack at Hughson last Monday, March 29.

But the softball Warriors were unable to parlay that offensive showing into a victory as the Huskies took advantage of errors and walks to come away with a 10-9 win.

The two teams traded the lead through the early innings but the game came down to the seventh.

Orestimba was on the verge of coming away with a victory after a two-run double by Vivica Origel capped a three-run uprising and gave the Warriors a 9-7 lead. But Hughson plated three in the bottom of the inning without the benefit of a hit to post the walk-off win.

Orestimba outhit Hughson 12-5, but could not overcome 10 errors and nine walks.

The Warriors jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first on base hits by Joslyn Sotelo, Deborah Torres, Sarah Millan and Jackie Lujan, only to see Hughson tie the game in its half of the frame.

Orestimba regained the lead with three runs in the third. A two-run double by Torres sent Shiloh Croffoot and Reagan Marroquin across the plate. Torres later scored to make it a 5-2 game.

Hughson got one run back in the bottom of the third, but Orestimba answered with a run in the top of the fourth when Sotelo singled and scored.

Hughson put up four in its half of the inning to go up 7-6 - a score that stood until the seventh, when the two teams traded three-run innings and the Huskies came away with the win.

Lujan had a big day at the plate, collecting three hits on the afternoon. Sotelo, Torres and Millan had two hits each.
