Orestimba boys soccer season is underway and their first match was Nov. 19 at home. A scoreless first half lead to a motivated Orestimba team to come out in the second leg of the game tooutscore their Yellowjackets opponent from Hilmar 3-1.
Alfredo Figueroa was able to come up with the first goal of the match and shortly after, Hilmar tied the game at one a piece to put on the pressure.
But Orestimba came out with great offensive ball movement to come away with two goals of their own from Julian Contreras, who was one away from a hat-trick performance. Michael Fernandes and Figueroa both contributed an assist on goals on the night.
OHS 0, CHS 5
Later in the week the Warriors traveled to Ceres to face off against the Bulldogs in a non-league match up. Orestimba took a tough 5-0 loss to Ceres.
Julian Verdin had a remarkable seven saves at the goalie position for the Warriors.
“We fought hard but we were outplayed in all areas," Coach Jose Serrato said. "Going against higher division teams is a great learning experience for our players because this is the type of teams we face in the playoffs.”
The Warriors next game will be Tuesday when they face off against the Livingston Wolves at Livingston High School. Game time for the varsity starts at 5 p.m.
JV OHS 15, HHS 1
The Warriors JV squad came ready to play in their first match up the season with an incredible 15-1 victory over their opponent from Hilmar. Juan Haro, Francisco Hernandez and Angel Ibarra each scored hat-tricks with in the game. Raymundo Alfaro and Pablo Hernandez scored two goals each. While, Jose Gallardo and Anthony Cerna scored one goal each. Jose Gallardo and Francisco Hernandez had an assist with goals on the evening. The JV Warriors will return to the field Tuesday, Nov. 30 to face off against the Los Banos Tigers in a non-league match up. Game time begins at 3:30 p.m.
