Newman Police

The Newman Police Department received 65 calls for service and reported 92 officer-initiated calls for a total of 157 incidents from March 1 to March 7.

There were 22 cases opened and 11 arrests were made. There were eight traffic citations, two criminal citations, seven parking citations and 19 animal citations issued. Four vehicles were towed.

Vandalism

A 2003 Nissan X Terra had the driver’s side window and from windshield broken sometime overnight on March 4 in the 1600 block of Blue Spruce.

Arrests

Jimmy Arcechigia, 33, of Newman was arrested on March 1 for driving on a license suspended for DUI.

Merilyn Lopez Perez, 28, of Newman was arrested on March 2 for a warrant.

Jose Fuentes Palafox, 26, of Livermore was arrested on March 3 for driving on a license suspended for DUI.

A 31-year-old Patterson man was arrested on March 3 for battery on a spouse.

Johnnie Sparks, 53, of Los Banos was arrested on March 3 for being a felon in possession of a firearm and carrying a loaded firearm in a vehicle.

Isaac Romero, 39, of Newman was arrested on March 5 for warrants.

Jose Garduno, 40, of Dos palos was arrested on March 6 for DUI.

Gustine Police

Suspicious circumstances

The police department responded to Laurel Avenue around 3:46 a.m. on March 3 after getting a report of a vehicle that pulled up to a home and were waving golf clubs and trying to get the resident to come outside. The vehicle was possibly a dark-colored Chrysler 300.

Animal control

The police department went to home on Manor Avenue around 11:31 a.m. on March 4 for a complaint that the neighbor has roosters that keep getting loose.

Theft

A theft was reported at 2 p.m. on March 5 at Tip Top Farms on 4th Street. The suspect was described as a Hispanic male adult. According to the police report, he stole merchandise and the store has video of the theft.

Arrests

Jair Manuel Solis, 20, was arrested at 1:59 a.m. on March 2 in the area of 4th Street and 6th Avenue for DUI, DUI of .08 or more and a vehicle code infraction.

Priscilla Rivera, 37, was arrested at 4:24 p.m. on March 2 in the 300 block of Wallis Avenue for possession of a stolen vehicle, obstruction and escape after arrest.

Rui Aleandre Medeiros, 44, was arrested at 4:24 p.m. on March 2 in the 300 block of Wallis Avenue for possession of a stolen vehicle.

Ralph Sisneros, 62, was arrested at 4:04 p.m. on March 4 in the 600 block of 3rd Avenue for a warrant.
