NEWMAN — Newman residents will have several opportunities next month to dispose of household waste, electronics, tires and confidential documents as part of the city’s annual spring clean‑up program.

The clean‑up will run April 13–18 at 1420 M Street, with drop‑off hours from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Wednesday hours will be extended to 6:20 p.m. The program is free for city residents, who must show a Newman utility bill and driver’s license. Commercial loads will not be accepted.

Refrigerators, computer monitors and televisions are prohibited during the general clean‑up.

Household hazardous waste

A one‑day hazardous waste collection will be held Saturday, April 18, from 8 a.m. to noon at the city’s Corporation Yard at 712 Fresno Street. The event is limited to Newman residents and capped at 15 gallons or 125 pounds per household.

E‑waste recycling

Electronic waste will be accepted Friday, April 17, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Corporation Yard. Accepted items include TVs, flat‑screen monitors, computers, laptops, printers, copiers, fax machines, cables and cell phones with batteries removed.

Tire amnesty

Residents may drop off up to nine tires per household — without rims or tractor tires — during the tire amnesty event April 15–17 from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Corporation Yard.

Shredding services

A free document‑shredding event will take place Saturday, April 18, from 8 a.m. to noon at the Corporation Yard. Each household may bring up to five bags or boxes of documents.

City officials said the annual clean‑up is intended to help residents safely dispose of materials that cannot be placed in regular trash bins and to reduce illegal dumping in the community.
