Gustine Historical Society plans Spring Trek to Madera Museum
The Gustine Historical Society will hold its annual Spring Trek on Saturday, April 11, 2026, with a group visit to one of California’s top‑rated museums.
Participants will meet at 8:45 a.m. at the Schmidt Park tennis courts and leave for Madera at 9 a.m. The outing includes a tour of the Madera Historical Museum, recognized as one of the best museums in the state.
Attendees are encouraged to bring a picnic lunch to enjoy in a local park after the tour.
Merced County Old Timers Seek Nominations for 2026 Honorees
The Old Timers of Merced County Inc. is seeking nominations for its annual class of “Pioneers of Merced County,” with applications due by April 8.
Nominees must be at least 85 years old and have lived in Merced County for 50 years or more, organizers said. Honorees receive a free luncheon, a professional portrait, and proclamations and certificates from elected officials recognizing their contributions to the community.
Friends and family are encouraged to attend the luncheon and may purchase tickets.
Organizers urged residents to submit nominations soon as the deadline approaches.
VFW Auxiliary to Meet April 7 in Gustine
The VFW Auxiliary Joseph G. Rose #7635 will hold its next meeting on Tuesday, April 7, at 6:30 p.m. at the Veterans Memorial Hall, 145 5th Street in Gustine.

West Side Art Show Opens March 31 in Newman
The 4th annual West Side Art Show will return to the West Side Theatre, showcasing artwork from students in Newman, Patterson and Gustine in grades K–12. The exhibit will be held at the West Side Theatre, 1331 Main St.
Show hours are March 31–April 1 from 3 to 5 p.m., and April 2 from 4 to 6 p.m. A reception and awards ceremony is scheduled for April 2 beginning at 5:30 p.m.
American Legion Auxiliary to Meet April 2 in Gustine
The American Legion Auxiliary Manuel M. Lopes Unit 240 will hold its next meeting on Thursday, April 2, at 6 p.m. at the Green Acres Clubhouse in Gustine.

Native Sons Parlor Sets April 2 Dinner Meeting
John C. Fremont Parlor No. 294 of the Native Sons of the Golden West will hold its next dinner meeting on Thursday, April 2, at 6:30 p.m. at the VFW Hall in Gustine. Those wishing to visit and play cards may arrive at 5 p.m., and bingo will follow the dinner.
Members are asked to RSVP so enough meals can be prepared. Responses may be sent by calling 209‑918‑1451. The parlor also encourages members to invite potential new members.
Gustine Lions Club seeking vendors for annual Easter Egg Hunt
The Gustine Lions Club and Miss Gustine Court are seeking food and merchandise vendors for the annual Easter Egg Hunt scheduled for April 4 at the Schmidt Park baseball fields.
Vendor booths will operate from 9:30 a.m. to noon, with the egg hunt beginning at 10 a.m. sharp. The vendor fee is $50, which includes the required business license.
Vendors may register online at www.cityofgustine.com by selecting Recreation Registration and then Special Events.
The event will feature eggs, prizes and an appearance by the Easter Bunny.
