Fire calls March 20 to March 26

The Newman Fire Station responded to 13 calls for service from March 20 to 26. The calls included seven for Emergency Medical Services, one mutual aid call, one vehicle fire, one smoke check, one vegetation fire and one public assist.

On March 24, at 2:24a.m., the Newman Station was dispatched for a vehicle fire near Highway 33 and 4th Street in Crows Landing. Upon arrival, the fire crews found a pickup truck engulfed in flames, with an attached open trailer, and no occupants. The fire crews quickly performed a 360 and extinguished the fire. The damages were estimated at $6,000. Chief Keith Bowen and Fire Investigative Unit Investigator Trista Bowen helped conduct follow up on this incident and obtained  video of the suspect. The following morning Trista Bowen located the suspect with Patterson patrol deputies. He was identified and arrested for arson.

On March 27, at 8:01 p.m., the Newman Station was dispatched for a vegetation fire near Eastin Road and Moorehead Road. On arrival, the fire crews found a roadside vegetation fire that had been extinguished. The cause of the fire is undetermined. There were no injuries or damages to report.

 

Gustine Fire Department

The Gustine Fire Department reported 18 calls for service from March 20 to March 26. The calls included 12 for Emergency Medical Services, one vehicle collision, one debris fire, two public assists, one commercial vehicle fire, and one commercial structure fire.
