The Romero Elementary community will come together on Saturday, April 18, 2026, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., for the annual Love Romero event at Romero Elementary School, a day centered on family fun, community support and giving back to former students.
Organizer Anel Flores said the heart of the event is helping Romero students who are now preparing to graduate from Gustine High School. “Money raised goes towards the scholarship for our past Romero students that are graduating GHS this 2026,” Flores said.
The event invites friends, family and the greater community to come out and enjoy a variety of activities while supporting scholarships for former Romero students as they take the next step after high school. Flores shared that this year’s event will feature several new attractions for families to enjoy. “We have a new activity like the mini farm petting zoo, face painting and friendship bracelets from Gustine ASB Club, Legos table from FBLA,” Flores said. In addition to those activities, the event will also include local food vendors, a silent auction, an Easter egg hunt for children 13 and under beginning at 11 a.m., and a $5 donation fun run. Fun run sign-ins will begin at 10 a.m., with the run starting at 10:30 a.m. Participants will also have a chance to win a prize.
Flores said the event has been made possible through the work of many people who helped bring it together. “This event was put together by Romero PTC, myself Anel Flores, Romero Elementary Staff, Evelin Gimlett our school board member represent and our retired teacher Mrs. Tallman. This is her last year with us, she will be retiring from Love Romero scholarship too,” Flores said. This year’s event carries added meaning as it marks Mrs. Tallman’s final year helping with the Love Romero Scholarship before her retirement. Flores also recognized the Gustine High School students who volunteer along with the community members who continue to support the event and help make the day special.
With its mix of fun, service and school pride, the Love Romero event continues to reflect the caring spirit of Romero Elementary and the broader community. Organizers hope families will come out, enjoy the day and help support scholarships for Romero’s former students graduating in 2026.
