DELHI — The Gustine Reds delivered a dominant performance Tuesday afternoon, overwhelming the Delhi Hawks 17–1 in a five‑inning mercy‑rule victory powered by an explosive offense and a steady start from pitcher Danny Navarro.

Gustine struck early in the first inning when Luke Avila drove a sharp RBI single into right‑center. Avila kept the pressure on, stealing second and advancing to third on a passed ball before Delhi escaped further damage with a double play. Even so, the Reds had seized control.

The second inning unraveled quickly for the Hawks. Gustine’s patience at the plate forced a string of walks and hit‑by‑pitches, keeping the bases in motion. Frank Silvera delivered the key hit of the frame with a two‑run single, then later stole home on a passed ball. Eddie Lomeli added another RBI knock, scoring Avila and stretching the Reds’ lead to a commanding margin.

Gustine’s offense erupted again in the third. Consecutive hits from Ryan Barcelos, Baylor Bloom, Avery Etheridge and Alex Quezada turned the game into a rout, with RBI singles and doubles pushing the score to 17–0.

Delhi mounted its only threat in the bottom of the fourth, loading the bases before managing a single run. The Reds tightened defensively to end the inning and preserve the 17–1 advantage.

Navarro anchored the win on the mound, keeping Delhi off‑balance throughout his outing and preventing the Hawks from finding any rhythm.

“I feel good, and my arm feels good as well,” Navarro said after the game. “I didn’t do too bad. We look good as a team, and hopefully we keep up whatever we have right now and continue to do well.”

The victory marked Gustine’s third straight win as the Reds continue to build momentum early in the season.
