Gustine edged out Denair in a gritty, late‑game comeback Tuesday night, earning a 3–2 home victory that showcased both physical play and clutch finishing. The Reds (5-9-2) struck first when Roque Castro buried a shot in the 12th minute off a well‑placed corner from Irvin Castro, giving Gustine early control.
Denair (7-6-3) answered quickly, capitalizing on a defensive lapse to tie the match at 1-1 with just over 10 minutes left in the half. Both defenses tightened from there, and the teams went into halftime deadlocked.
The Coyotes seized momentum early in the second half, taking their first lead at 2-1. But the Reds turned to their playmaker, Alex Quezada, to shift the match back in their favor. Quezada found space in the box to fire home the equalizer, pulling Gustine level at 2-2.
With five minutes remaining, Quezada delivered again. His second goal of the night ignited the Gustine sidelines and pushed the Reds ahead 3-2. Denair mounted a final surge, but the Reds’ backline held strong to secure the win.
The victory gives Gustine a much‑needed boost as the season enters its final stretch.
“A relentless performance by the boys tonight,” said coach Lino Maldonado. “They showed a lot of heart coming back from a deficit late in the game.”
