Turning the Page: Navigating a rebuilding year for the Gustine Reds

As the 2024 Boys' basketball season approaches, Varsity Coach Charles Roth will start his second year coaching with the Gustine Reds, described as a "Rebuilding year, with no expectations other than learning and developing for the years to come" Roth states. Both JV and Varsity teams are made up of all freshmen and sophomores, making most of them new to the basketball program. 

 

The team graduated six seniors since last season when they went 8-20 overall, and 5-7 in the southern league where they placed 4th. Coach Roth is looking forward to seeing two returning sophomore players Ubaldo Servin, and Emilio Caballero to see their hard work and where they will be able to take the team this season. 

 

The Gustine Reds will be playing in the 81st annual Rotary Tournament, which is hosted by the Gustine Rotary Club at Gustine High School. This is the longest-running high school tournament in California, which always takes place the first week of December, this year it will be December 4th-7th. The first game of the tournament will be on Wednesday, December 4th, against Gustine Vs Millennium at 7 p.m.
