NEWMAN – On Saturday, the Orestimba High boys volleyball team made the trek into the Sacramento area for a non-league match.
But the Warriors’ journey was a quick one against Wheatland High’s squad, which won 2-0; the final scores were 25-17, 25-15.
This match was one of three Orestimba (4-11 overall, 1-4 in the Trans-Valley League) had last week.
Hilmar 3, Orestimba 2
In a TVL match inside the Yellowjackets’ gym on March 25, the match went five sets before Hilmar won in the final set. The scores from each set were not available at press time.
Ripon 3, Orestimba 0
The two teams squared off inside the Warriors’ gym on March 23, with the Indians posting a 25-11, 25-14, 25-18 win.
Ethan Costa had seven kills in the match for the Warriors.
Lobo dished out eight digs, plus four aces and two kills.
Bryant Badong followed in digs with seven and six assists. Costa also had five digs and Romeo Gonzales three.
Upcoming matches
The Warriors hosted Big Valley Christian High of Modesto on Monday.
On Wednesday, Orestimba will welcome Ripon Christian High in a TVL match, which is scheduled to tip off at 5 p.m.
Orestimba continues TVL action on Monday, April 6, this time at Escalon High. This match also has a 5 p.m. start.
