The Hilmar Yellowjackets bounced back from their recent loss in convincing fashion on Thursday night, sweeping the Orestimba Warriors 3-0 in a hard-fought Trans-Valley League matchup.

The victory, with set scores of 25-22, 25-12, and 25-19, marked a crucial win for a Hilmar team hungry to get back on track. Orestimba, who entered the match on a two-game skid, showcased a gritty performance but couldn't overcome the Yellowjackets' offensive firepower.

The Yellowjackets' attack was a well-distributed effort, with multiple players contributing to the scoreboard. Leading the way in kills was # 11 Reese Ahlem with 7 kills, while # 8 Emma Gomes added 6 kills of her own and dominated at the net with 3 total blocks. A standout performance came from  #25 Johanna Lawler, who was remarkably efficient with 5 kills on a stellar .556 hitting percentage.

The Warriors, despite the loss, put up a strong fight, with notable performances from #11 Ellery Gustafson, who tallied 6 kills, and #7 Ashlynn Bell, who was right behind her with 5 kills.

After the match, Hilmar Coach Pattie Harris emphasized the importance of every league game. "TVL is pretty tough this year, so every game we play like a playoff game or section game in our league," Harris said. Looking ahead to their upcoming match against Hughson on September 25th, she added, "It's going to be a tough game next week against Hughson."

Orestimba Coach Carlee Felber was proud of her team's effort, especially on the defensive end. "Tonight was the best we have played in league so far. I was really impressed by my defense tonight," Felber stated. When asked about their next matchup on September 23, she expressed hope that the team would carry the night's momentum forward. "I'm hoping we can take the energy and the intensity that we had tonight and bring that into our next game."

With the win, Hilmar looks to carry this momentum into their next TVL contest, while Orestimba will be eager to bounce back and secure a victory in their upcoming match.

Orestimba will face the Hughson Huskies on Sept. 23 at 6 p.m. in Hughson.
