One of Gustine’s most anticipated annual traditions is back and bigger than ever as the Gustine High School FFA Chapter prepares for the 40th Annual Truck and Tractor Pulls on Thursday, July 3. The event will take place at 6 p.m. at the Gustine High School Football Stadium and promises a fun-filled evening for families, agriculture enthusiasts, and supporters of youth leadership.
Hosted by the Valley Tractor Pullers Association with organization help from the Gustine FFA and its Ag Boosters, the event is a longstanding community celebration that helps raise funds to support the FFA Chapter’s year-round activities. Proceeds from the evening directly benefit the students by funding trips to FFA conventions, leadership conferences, judging competitions, speaking contests, and hands-on agricultural education experiences.
Truck and tractor pull events are motorsport competitions where powerful trucks or tractors drag a weighted sled down a straight dirt track, testing their strength, traction, and engine torque. As the vehicle moves forward, the sled's weight increases resistance by shifting toward the front, making it progressively harder to pull. The goal is to pull the sled as far as possible—often resulting in roaring engines, flying dirt, and cheering crowds.
Attendees can enjoy a wide variety of classic concession stand favorites, including Silva linguica sandwiches, burgers, hot dogs, nachos, candy, and drinks. The stand accepts both cash and card, making it easy for guests to enjoy their favorite treats. A 50/50 raffle will also be held during the event, giving everyone a chance to walk away a winner while supporting a great cause.
Sponsorship opportunities are still available for local businesses and community members who want to advertise in the official Tractor Pull Program or place banners around the track. Ad options range from $40 to $300, with the highest tier including banner placement along the bleachers. Sponsors must submit their ads by June 27th by mail or by June 30th via email.
For more information about becoming a sponsor or participating in the event, contact Matt Baffunno at mbaffunno@gustineusd.org or call (209) 854-6414 ext. 433.
This milestone 40th year marks not only the continuation of a cherished tradition but also a renewed commitment to agricultural education and leadership. Come out, grab a linguica sandwich, and enjoy an evening of excitement, community, and support for the next generation of agricultural leaders.
