CROWS LANDING — Residents gathered Saturday morning to celebrate the grand reopening of Bonita Pool, a long-awaited revitalization project that brings new life to a cornerstone of the Crows Landing community.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony, held at 11 a.m. on Sept. 13, marked the official debut of the newly renovated facility located at the corner of 4th and I Street. The event was hosted by the Stanislaus County Parks & Recreation Department and drew local families, officials, and community partners.

The Bonita Pool Project includes a new swimming pool, upgraded restrooms, an equipment room, concession stand, and improved accessibility throughout the site. The enhancements reflect Stanislaus County’s broader commitment to expanding recreational services and investing in underserved areas.

“This project is about much more than just reopening a pool; it’s about creating an outlet for children and families to stay active, come together, and build stronger community ties,” said Supervisor Channce Condit during the ceremony. “Bonita Pool will serve as a source of pride for Crows Landing and provide lasting benefits for the entire Westside.”

The $2.8 million renovation was funded through a State Specified Grant from the California State Department of Parks, secured with support from Senator Anna Caballero. Parks & Recreation Director Tera Chumley called the reopening “a cherished space for play, connection, and healthy outdoor recreation.”

To celebrate the reopening, the department partnered with the Stanislaus County Police Activities League (PAL) to offer free swim weekends throughout September, from noon to 5 p.m.

The project was made possible through collaboration with PAL, the Stanislaus County General Services Agency, LDA Partners, Marvulli Inc., and The Gordian Group.
