Queens and dignitaries from churches across California parade through the streets of Gustine during the annual Festa hosted by the Gustine Pentecost Society. Rooted in centuries-old Portuguese tradition, the Festa honors the Holy Spirit with vibrant pageantry, music, and religious devotion—reflecting a cultural celebration brought to the Central Valley by Azorean immigrants who continue to uphold it with pride and community spirit.

The parade is one of the most visually striking elements of the celebration, with participants dressed in ornate gowns and traditional capes, often carrying banners and floral arrangements as a symbol of faith and gratitude. Church groups gather not only to pay homage but also to reconnect with heritage, family, and fellow parishioners from across the state.

Held annually in the summer, the Festa is more than just a religious procession—it’s a powerful expression of identity, resilience, and community unity. For many, it represents a link between generations and a shared promise to preserve their ancestral customs for years to come.
