Gustine – What were you doing at 14? For Ashlyn Alamo, 2019 marked the start of an impressive entrepreneurial journey. This talented local business owner, now a young adult, has built two successful ventures reaching customers in Gustine and beyond, largely thanks to her strong presence on Instagram.
Alamo is the creative mind behind Ashlyn's Creations (@ashlynscreations25 on Instagram), a business she launched in 2019. It began with "succulent arrangements and baked goods" and expanded in 2023 to include "custom sports posters." While these posters initially catered to youth and high school football teams, they've since grown to cover a variety of other sports.
Her second business, The Sassy Brim (@the_sassy_brim on Instagram), kicked off in April 2025. Here, you'll find custom-crafted items like "trucker hats, belt bags, and can koozies."
When asked to pick a favorite between her two thriving businesses, Alamo's enthusiasm for both was clear. "I don't have a favorite—I love them both! I've always loved baking, and while the trucker hats are newer, I enjoy making them just as much."
Alamo notes that sales fluctuate with the seasons. "Baked goods tend to perform best in the winter and during graduation season, while hat sales have stayed consistent, especially during vendor events."
Perhaps most remarkably, Alamo dedicates all her business profits to a significant personal goal. "All proceeds from both businesses go toward my college tuition and books, as I am in school part-time in Los Banos and will be transferring to CSU Stanislaus in the fall."
Beyond her entrepreneurial ventures and college coursework, Alamo also works full-time as an administrative assistant during the summer, shifting to part-time once school starts again. Her ability to juggle a job, two businesses, and college studies truly highlights her determination and wide-ranging talents. Ashlyn Alamo is certainly a young woman to keep an eye out for her business adventures in our local community.
